Looking for a “natural” wrinkle-smoother? Look no further than highly-purified Xeomin®!
Access Medspa Rejuvenate knows that it can be confusing to understand all of your options for cosmetic treatment. Our founder and nurse practitioner, Dr. Asongtia Ntonghawah, takes the mystery out of the array of possibilities to protect against and soften expression lines and other signs of aging and sun damage. Dr. Ntonghawah and our team in Lanham, Maryland, understand the nuances among “wrinkle-relaxer” treatments such as Xeomin®. We serve greater Prince George’s, Charles, and Montgomery counties with trusted skill and artistry to safely, comfortably, and precisely inject such products in a way that also honors and celebrates your natural and unique beauty.
What are the alternatives to Xeomin®?
Botox® is the oldest and most well-known of these treatments. Neuromodulators or neurotoxins are designed to disrupt the muscle activity that contributes to expression lines. Since Botox® was first approved by the FDA in the early 2000s, other products have achieved approval, too. They include (in order of approval) Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify®.
How does Xeomin® compare to these other products?
First and foremost, Xeomin® is marketed as a highly purified form of botulinum toxin type A. Due to its unique manufacturing process, Xeomin® does not contain unnecessary proteins or additives. This feature helps to minimize the risk of adverse reactions to the product or resistance to treatment, which supports utmost safety and more predictable outcomes.
Additionally, the long-term effectiveness of the product is supported. Free of non-essential additives and proteins, Xeomin® reduces the risk of antibody resistance. This process can occur with other products over time, as your body may develop antibodies that can affect the results from your procedure with repeated use. Put simply, treatment may no longer work. The use of Xeomin® can help to protect against this complication of long-term use.

Is Xeomin® otherwise applied the same way as other “wrinkle-smoothers”?
While the “dose” or units used can vary among products, the same general idea applies:
- Areas of concern are assessed.
- Treatment sites are cleansed and marked to guide the precise placement of each injection.
- Injections are completed at the marked sites using very fine, thin needles.
- Treatment is completed in just minutes.
These injectable procedures are not associated with a painful treatment experience. However, we can discuss topical numbing creams and other ways to ensure you are comfortable at every step. It is also important to follow any instructions provided before and after care treatment.
How do the results compare?
Aside from supporting the long-term effectiveness of treatment, Xeomin’s “onset of action” compares favorably to other products. Our patients have seen noticeable improvements in their lines and wrinkles in three to four days. Depending on where Xeomin® is injected and other factors (which we can discuss during a consultation), your forehead and eye region should look youthfully smooth for at least three months. And, of course, all treatments – regardless of whether Xeomin®, Botox®, or one of the newer products is injected – will result in a natural and not frozen appearance. Our providers know exactly where to place each injection and how much to apply to prevent that dreaded “frozen face,” which occurs when too much product is used and when other muscles are affected outside the ones responsible for your expression lines.
